The City of Paducah invites the community to celebrate improvements at Albert Jones Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 29, at 1 p.m.
The park has received several enhancements this summer designed to improve the experience for residents and visitors. The existing walking path was removed and replaced with a new asphalt path that is three feet wider, increasing the path’s width to six feet. The path was also extended by approximately 200 feet, bringing its total length to one-quarter mile.
In addition, a new picnic shelter was added to provide a shaded gathering space where park visitors can relax, enjoy a meal, and spend time together. Park visitors will also notice new park benches and lighting.
Located at 855 Joe Bryan Drive, northeast of Brooks Stadium, Albert Jones Park is a neighborhood park situated on the former Henry Clay Elementary School site. In 2012, the Paducah Board of Commissioners approved renaming the park from Henry Clay Park to Albert Jones Park in honor of Jones, who served as Paducah’s mayor from 1996 to 2000.
